Dr. Hugh Flax

Dr. Hugh Flax practices full time in Atlanta, Ga., focusing on functional-appearance related conditions and advanced laser dentistry. Using the techniques that he teaches in his programs, he has grown his practice by almost 15 percent in the past year.

In addition to giving lectures, Dr. Flax has published several peer-reviewed articles on the closed flap technique.

Dr. Flax is an accredited member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a certified member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and a fellow of the International Academy of Dento-Facial Esthetics. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry.

He served as WSB-TV.com’s expert on cosmetic dentistry in 2003, and appeared on FOX News demonstrating the miraculous benefits of laser dentistry. In 2004, he is the featured dentist on the “Meet the Products” television show and H2O Magazine.

  • 1976 Graduated from Ransom Everglades School, Miami, Florida, Cum Laude and Member of National Honor Society.
  • 1976-1979 Attended Emory University undergraduate. GPA: 3.92.
  • 1979-1983 Attended and graduated from Emory University Dental School with Phi Beta Kappa honors, 1980.
  • 1980 Research Chemist at the Centers for Disease Control, Atlanta, GA
  • 1983-1984 Participated in a General Practice Residency program at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, New Orleans, LA
  • 1984-1985 Performed cosmetic material research at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry with Nikhil K. Sarkar, PhD
  • 1997 Achieved Accredited status with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
  • 1999 Passed written examination of American Board of Aesthetic Dentistry, Eligible for Diplomate Status
  • 2000 Graduated from “Advanced Functional Aesthetics Course” at Pacific Aesthetic Continuum
  • 2003 Achieved Associate / Fellowship Status with the World Clinical Laser Institute
